For those of you who enjoy the Olympic sport or are just learning how to aim, Antler Creek Ranch offers skeet and trap shooting.
In this sport, targets (referred to as clay pigeons) are sent from a trap into the air at more than 60 miles per hour. The object of the sport is for the shooter to knock the clay pigeons down.
Trap shooting:
Shooters rotate through a pattern of adjacent shooting areas. When a target is fired, each shooter has only two chances to hit the clay pigeon. The trap is usually located in the center of the field. The clay pigeon is released in various positions to imitate the unpredictable flight pattern of birds.
Skeet shooting:
Shooters rotate through a line of shooting areas in a semi-circle pattern. Targets come from either side of the field towards the center. The clay pigeon is released in various positions to imitate the unpredictable flight pattern of birds. The word "skeet" is derived from the Scandinavian word for "shoot."
